CIMG5049-custom-size-300-250Dr. Chele Zehnder received her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Auburn University in 1996. Since graduating, she completed a small animal medicine and surgery internship at the University of Pennsylvania, and has practiced emergency medicine at Jefferson Animal Hospital and small animal medicine and surgery in Louisville, Kentucky. She has been practicing veterinary medicine for over 20 years, and loves being able to help pets and their owners.

Dr. Zehnder enjoys working with pet owners in optimizing the care and knowledge of their pets. Dr. Zehnder has been doing house calls since 2008, and by doing house calls, she feels enough time can be spent getting to know pets and their owners so that everyone benefits. Pets seen in their own homes aren’t scared by the strange sounds and smells they encounter at the hospital or clinic, and can feel safe and more comfortable. Treatment plans can be very personalized to each pet and client’s needs.

Dr. Zehnder treats each patient as her own and wishes to provide every pet owner with the knowledge they need to strengthen the bond with their pet. Veterinary interests include: preventative care, senior wellness care, and the management of chronic diseases such as arthritis, diabetes and kidney failure.

Although trained in western medicine, Dr. Zehnder believes in a holistic approach to pet care and is open to researching alternative methods and using nutritional supplements and dietary therapies where indicated.

Dr. Zehnder lives with her husband and two sons and pets rescued over the years including two geriatric mixed breed dogs and two cats and a new puppy.
